GCash owner Mynt debuts on PSE after record P60.9-billion IPO

By Kislap Editorial ·

Mynt, the parent company of GCash, began trading on the Philippine Stock Exchange on 20 October 2026 after a P60.9-billion IPO, the largest in Philippine stock market history. GCash's Help Center lists Australia and New Zealand among the countries where GCash Overseas is available.

Mynt, Inc., the parent company of the GCash e-wallet, made its debut on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) Main Board on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, under the ticker symbol GCASH. Its initial public offering (IPO) raised P60.9 billion, the largest in the Philippine stock market's history, surpassing Monde Nissin's 2021 IPO. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr led the bell-ringing ceremony.

According to BusinessWorld, Mynt sold about 8.03 billion common shares at P6.60 each: 1.61 billion newly issued shares and 6.42 billion existing shares sold by current shareholders. The base offering was worth about P53 billion, and the exercise of an overallotment option covering about 1.20 billion additional secondary shares lifted the deal to P60.9 billion. Rappler reported that only P10.6 billion was fresh capital for the company, with the remaining P50.3 billion coming from secondary shares sold by existing investors, and that around P1.1 billion of the IPO came from subscribers in the GCash app.

Reuters, as published by CNA, reported that the shares rose 1.7% to 6.71 pesos on debut. Rappler reported that Mynt debuted with a market capitalisation of P441.5 billion, or about US$7 billion, making it the seventh-largest domestic company on the PSE, according to PSE president Ramon Monzon. Monzon said stockbrokers placed orders for more than 2.65 billion shares against their allocation of 1.6 billion.

Mynt is backed by Globe Telecom, Ant Group and Ayala Corp, according to Reuters. The IPO drew more than 20 cornerstone investors who committed about US$500 million, nearly 60% of the base deal, according to the company; they included BlackRock, Citadel, Fidelity International and the International Finance Corp. Based on its final prospectus, Mynt plans to put 60% of the net proceeds from the primary offering into expanding its credit technology business, with the rest going to product development and general corporate purposes, BusinessWorld reported.

GCash had 41.5 million monthly active users in the three months to 30 June, or nearly 56% of the Philippines' adult population, according to Mynt's prospectus as reported by Reuters. GCash users completed payment transactions worth 9.84 trillion pesos in the first half of 2026. Mynt's net income for the six months to 30 June rose 7.3% from a year earlier to 10.82 billion pesos, and revenue rose 10.4% to 43.27 billion pesos.

GCash's reach also extends beyond the Philippines. The GCash Help Center lists GCash Overseas as available in countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas and Oceania, including Australia and New Zealand, as well as Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. Its listed features include sending money to GCash users in the Philippines, bank transfers to Philippine banks via InstaPay, paying Philippine bills, buying load for Philippine numbers, and cashing in via PayPal, Payoneer and international remittance partners.

For Filipinos in New Zealand, the Help Center names Panda Remit, Remitly, Skrill, Wirebarley and WorldRemit as official GCash remittance partners. For Australia, its list includes Remitly, Rocket Remit, WorldRemit, Ria, MoneyGram and Western Union, among others.
