Philippine Embassy Election Board in Wellington Calls Hearing on Overseas Voter Applications for 2028
The Resident Election Registration Board of the Philippine Embassy in Wellington called a hearing for 19 October 2026 on overseas voter applications filed from 1 July to 30 September, as registration for the 2028 Philippine elections runs until 30 September 2027.
The Resident Election Registration Board (RERB) of the Philippine Embassy in Wellington was scheduled to convene at Sentro Rizal, 50 Hobson Street, Thorndon. The hearing was set for 19 October 2026, from 3pm to 5pm, according to a notice dated 2 October and posted on the embassy's website on 8 October.
The board was to hear applications for registration, certification, reactivation, correction of entries or change of name, change of address, transfer, recapture and other types of applications filed with the embassy from 1 July to 30 September 2026. The notice said any interested party could file a written objection to the list, addressed to the RERB at the embassy or sent by email to wellington.pe@philembassy.org.nz. The last day to file objections was 12 October 2026.
The notice was signed by RERB chairperson Mark Anthony G. Articulo. At the board's first hearing for the 2028 National Elections, held on 20 April 2026, it processed 602 applications submitted between 1 December 2025 and 31 March 2026 and approved 601, the embassy said.
Overseas voter registration for the 2028 Philippine elections runs from 1 December 2025 to 30 September 2027 under COMELEC Resolution No. 11171, according to a Commission on Elections notice on the embassy's overseas voting page. Filipino citizens abroad who are not otherwise disqualified by law and who are at least 18 years of age on or before 8 May 2028 may register.
The embassy says applicants need to bring a valid Philippine passport or a Dual Citizenship Identification Certificate. According to the COMELEC material on the embassy's page, the OVF1 application form can be filled out at the post, downloaded from the COMELEC website or completed through the iRehistro website, and applications can be filed at any Philippine embassy or consulate, or at designated registration centres in the Philippines.
