CPF rates for senior workers rise on 1 January 2027, affecting Filipino PRs in Singapore but not work pass holders

By Kislap Editorial ·

From 1 January 2027, CPF contribution rates rise for employees aged above 55 to 65 in Singapore, a change that reaches Filipino permanent residents but not Filipinos on work passes, who do not pay CPF.

CPF contribution rates for older employees in Singapore will rise on 1 January 2027, and among Filipinos the change reaches only permanent residents, filipinos.sg reported. Work Permit, S Pass and Employment Pass holders do not contribute to CPF, so Filipinos on work passes see no change.

According to the CPF Board, the total rate for employees aged above 55 to 60 earning more than $750 a month goes from 34% to 35.5% of wages, split into 16.5% from the employer and 19% from the employee. For those above 60 to 65, the total goes from 25% to 26%, with employer and employee each paying 13%. Rates for other age bands stay the same, and the changes apply to wages earned from 1 January 2027.

The CPF Board said the increase for employees aged above 55 to 65 will be fully allocated to the Retirement Account, up to the Full Retirement Sum, to help senior workers save more for retirement. Senior workers earning more than $500 to $750 a month, who contribute at phased-in rates, will also see their rates rise proportionally.

There are no changes to the graduated contribution rates for first- and second-year permanent residents, so new PRs keep paying lower rates for their first two years. filipinos.sg noted that employers must apply the new rates themselves, so a Filipino PR aged 55 to 65 should expect a bigger CPF deduction on the January 2027 payslip, matched by a bigger employer share.
