Filipinas to play Football Ferns twice at Porirua Park in Wellington in a World Cup rematch
The Philippine women's national football team will play New Zealand's Football Ferns at Porirua Park in Wellington on 29 November and 4 December, their first meeting since the Philippines beat New Zealand at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The Football Ferns will end 2026 with two home games in Wellington against the Philippines on 29 November and 4 December, New Zealand Football announced on 20 October. Both matches will be played at Porirua Park, home of the Wellington Phoenix women's team.
The series replaces the Ferns' October fixtures in Panama, which were cancelled after an earthquake in that country. New Zealand Football lists the Philippines at a FIFA ranking of 39, and both teams are preparing for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
PH Sports News said the two sides last met at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the Philippines beat New Zealand for their first-ever victory on the global stage. It said the New Zealand trip is part of the Filipinas' Road to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup programme.
"Porirua Park has established itself over the past few seasons as a real part of women's football DNA in New Zealand, so it is significant to take two senior international matches there for the first time," Football Ferns head coach Michael Mayne said.
Tickets go on pre-sale to Football Whānau members from 2 November, with general sale from 4 November. Adult tickets cost $20 and child tickets (14 and under) $5, plus ticketing fees. Both matches will be broadcast live and free on DAZN and TVNZ.
