Hotel101 Global Holdings Corp., a hospitality brand with deep Filipino roots, is making a significant stride in its international expansion with plans to develop what is anticipated to be Melbourne's largest hotel. Co-founded by renowned Filipino entrepreneurs Tony Tan Caktiong of Jollibee Foods Corporation and Edgar "Injap" Sia II of Mang Inasal, Hotel101 brings a Philippine-born hospitality concept to one of Australia's premier destinations for business and tourism.

The Hotel101-Melbourne project, located at 540 Flinders Lane in the city's central business district, is projected to feature 766 rooms and is targeted for completion in 2029. This development highlights the growing global footprint of Filipino-founded enterprises and their capacity to compete in international markets, as previously reported by The Philippine Times (Australia).

Central to Hotel101's strategy is its unique hybrid condotel business model, where individual investors purchase hotel units, and Hotel101 manages the property as a single hotel. The brand’s signature "Happy Room" ensures a standardized experience across all properties, simplifying operations and offering a consistent guest stay globally. This model supported Hotel101 Global's landmark listing on the Nasdaq in June 2025, marking it as the first Filipino-founded company to achieve this.

Following its flagship Hotel101-Manila, the company inaugurated its first international property in Madrid, Spain, in March 2026. Melbourne's selection as a key market underscores its strategic importance in Hotel101's global vision, aiming to serve both business travelers and visitors attending the city’s major events, while Hotel101 Global CEO Hannah Yulo-Luccini addresses how the brand will complement Melbourne's unique character.
