Kalin, a new free family caregiving app developed in the Philippines, officially launched its founding pilot on September 2, 2026. This platform is now available on Google Play across 10 markets, including the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, with an iOS version slated for future release. The app aims to consolidate fragmented care coordination, provide trusted support, and prioritize caregiver well-being within a single connected experience.

The platform is specifically designed to address the realities of transnational families, where caregiving responsibilities often span different cities and countries. For many Filipinos, this means coordinating care for loved ones while residing abroad, such as a sibling in Australia or a child in the Philippines. Kalin seeks to bridge these distances by centralizing family members, information, responsibilities, and resources into one shared digital environment.

Kalin's core features include a Care Console for coordinating tasks and staying informed, a Trusted Caregiver Network to connect with professional help, personalized care settings, and tools for tracking care updates, medications, symptoms, and expenses. It also offers an AI-powered Caregiver Companion for check-ins and access to mental health and wellness support, recognizing the often 'invisible weight' carried by caregivers, as highlighted by founder Larisse Lava-Austria.

The app's launch comes amid a growing demand for care services, particularly in aging Asia-Pacific economies like Australia, which increasingly rely on Filipina caregivers, nurses, and domestic workers. According to a study by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), Australia employs an estimated 10,000 Filipino healthcare professionals, underscoring the vital role Filipinos play in global care chains and the pressing need for integrated support systems like Kalin for both caregivers and their families.
