Chloe Rose Cantos, a 15-year-old Filipino student who moved to New Zealand from the Philippines three years ago, was subjected to a random assault at a bus stop on Glenfield Road, Auckland’s North Shore, on June 3, 2026. Her father, Ryel Joseph Cantos, reported that the attack occurred around 4pm as Chloe was waiting for a bus after school. The assailant, a young lady unknown to Chloe, allegedly verbally abused and then physically attacked her, leaving her with a bloody nose and severe emotional distress.

The assault has had a profound impact on Chloe Rose, who is now traumatized and reluctant to return to school, despite her assailant not attending the same institution. Doctors have advised X-rays to check for a broken nose once the swelling subsides. Her father expressed deep frustration and concern for his daughter’s well-being, emphasizing that Chloe is a 'nice kid' who does not seek to harm others.

This incident is not isolated at the Glenfield Road bus stop; another Filipino girl was reportedly assaulted at the same location in 2023. These repeated incidents have spurred local parents to demand increased security measures outside the nearby McDonald's, where the bus stop is situated.
