Your business deserves its own email address
A Gmail or Yahoo address tells customers you might be a side hustle, and lets anyone write in your name. Google Workspace gives you rosa@rosaskitchen.co.nz instead, in the Gmail you already know.
Free for 14 days, then 10% off your first year with a single-use code from Kislap. Google asks for a payment method at sign-up but doesn’t charge it during the trial.
Over 3 billion users and 13 million customers work in Google Workspace, by Google’s count.
48%
of the businesses on Kislap that list an email use a free personal address
That is 1,860 of 3,841 listings, mostly Gmail and Yahoo. It’s free and it works, but it quietly costs a business trust in four ways.
- rosaskitchen2019@yahoo.com
It looks like a side hustle
A customer comparing two caterers sees rosaskitchen2019@yahoo.com on one quote and rosa@rosaskitchen.co.nz on the other. Only one looks sure to turn up on the day.
- rosas.kitchen.catering@gmail.com
Anyone can pretend to be you
A free address in any business’s name takes a minute to make. Scammers use that to send fake invoices and “our bank details have changed” emails, and most of these scams now come from free webmail.
- orders.maria.d@gmail.com
It belongs to a person, not the business
When the staff member who took orders on their own Gmail moves on, the customer conversations go with them. With business addresses, you create and remove your team’s accounts, so the business keeps them.
- From: rosaskitchen.nz@gmail.com, sent by a newsletter app
Newsletters and invoices can look forged
Gmail now asks every sender to vouch for their email with their own domain. A newsletter or invoicing app can’t do that for a Gmail or Yahoo address, so that mail is more likely to be marked as spam or blocked.
