The event, supported by Fairfield City Council, is a significant celebration for the Australian community, attracting thousands with its diverse food stalls and vibrant atmosphere.

The Cabramatta Moon Festival is set to transform Sydney’s Cabramatta Town Centre into a vibrant celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival this Sunday, September 20, 2026. Running from 11 AM to 8 PM, the annual event, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year according to Fairfield City Council, promises a rich cultural experience with free entry and a diverse program appealing to all ages. Mayor Frank Carbone highlighted its role in showcasing the "incredible culture, food, and community spirit" of Cabramatta.

A major draw for attendees will be the extensive culinary offerings, including a new dedicated Charcoal Food Precinct featuring smoky grills and flame-kissed meats inspired by Southeast Asian street food. Filipino food enthusiasts can look forward to stalls like Estradas BBQ, known for its pork skewers, Hoy Pinoy with its Filipino street food, and Foodtrip Street Eats, serving up classics such as liempo, sisig, kwek kwek, and turon. The festival will also host stalls offering Vietnamese, Malaysian, Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Cambodian, and Thai cuisines, alongside various desserts and beverages.

Beyond the food, the festival offers a packed schedule of entertainment. Families can enjoy free kids' activities, amusement rides, and the children’s chopstick challenge. Throughout the day, lion dancing will add colour and energy to the streets, with live music and performances staged across multiple zones. A new "Battle of the Broths" will see home cook Duncan Lu pit phở against bún bò huế in a live cooking showdown, inviting visitors to taste and vote.

As evening approaches, the traditional lantern parade, led by the Moon Goddess and Archer, will illuminate the streets, culminating in a spectacular Firecracker Finale. Given the anticipated crowds and significant road closures affecting John Street, Cabramatta Road West, and other main thoroughfares from September 18 to 21, 2026, public transport via train or bus is strongly recommended. Free shuttle buses will also operate from Council car parks in Canley Heights and Canley Vale, as advised by Fairfield City Council.
