About the category

The Lookout reported in October that Best Asian Creative Artist was created to recognize outstanding original music from artists across Asia outside Taiwan. The category drew 105 entries from artists outside Taiwan, the highest number in the award’s history, and the Golden Indie Music Awards received 4,242 submissions for its 17th edition.

Other notable winners on the night included Taiwanese indie band Sunset Rollercoaster, which claimed Best Album for “QUIT QUIETLY”, and Taiwanese jazz musician Yuhan Su, who took home three awards, according to Dot Daily Dose. The outlet added that mori’s 2022 album “DON’T BLAME THE WILD ONE!” topped NME Asia’s list of the best Asian albums of the year, and that she has performed at SXSW and Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival.
