Fil-Am-owned Vanura Homehealth marks 25 years with a Silver Legacy Gala in Claremont
Asian Journal reports that Vanura Homehealth Services, founded by Filipino American couple Alan De Leon and Amabel Nugpo-De Leon, celebrated 25 years of home health care with a Silver Legacy Gala at Bridges Auditorium in Claremont on 17 October.
Filipino American–owned Vanura Homehealth Services marked 25 years of home health care with a Silver Legacy Gala on 17 October at Bridges Auditorium in Claremont, California, Asian Journal reported on 4 November.
Asian Journal said the black-tie evening featured the docudrama “Duty or Destiny: The Life and Journey of Amabel De Leon,” directed by Enzo Williams, speeches from owners Alan De Leon and Amabel Nugpo-De Leon, awards for company pioneers and leaders, and a performance by balladeer David Pomeranz. The Filipino Correspondent Network (TFCN) covered the same Claremont gala in an earlier 23 October report.
From a nursing career to a home health group
Amabel came to the United States in the mid-1990s and practised nursing for years before launching the business with her husband, a fellow health care professional, Asian Journal reported. The couple founded Vanura the same year they married and later built related home health agencies Optima Care in Ontario, Care Dimension of the Desert in Palm Desert, and Vanura Arizona, the paper said. TFCN said the Rancho Cucamonga headquarters is on Rochester Avenue and that the group employs more than 400 people and serves about 2,000 clients.
Asian Journal said the owners and their team use the name “Firehouse” for the professionals behind their operations, which also include Averti Care, Vanura Hospice, EdZen Solutions and DeNu Consultancy, with a building near Ontario International Airport now serving as the main headquarters. The gala also marked the launch of the Ubora Health platform, described as a consolidated marketplace for health care needs.
Music and a founder’s message
Pomeranz performed his hits, and Filipino American singers Garth Garcia, Maribeth Pascua and Felson Palad also took the stage, Asian Journal reported; Palad co-hosted with Limber Valenzuela, Vanura’s head of sales. TFCN said the evening featured “Fire Within Our Hearts,” a song written for the anniversary and performed by selected employees and guest artists, with Pomeranz joining the chorus.
“Tonight, we are in the presence of remarkable people from every chapter of Vanura’s story,” Amabel said, according to Asian Journal. “Those pioneers who witnessed the dream before there was even a company, employees who arrived for a job, and the physicians, healthcare leaders, community partners, patients, families, and friends who trusted Vanura and helped strengthen its mission.”
Valenzuela thanked the De Leons “for building a company where people could earn a living,” Asian Journal reported, adding: “25 years ago, you planted a seed in faith. Tonight, you are in the middle of everything that grew from it.”
