Filipina homemaker fighting cancer since 2016 among six AED 100,000 Dear Big Ticket winners in the UAE

By Kislap Editorial ·

Arlene Jimenez, a 44-year-old homemaker from the Philippines who has lived in the UAE since 2006, is one of six winners of AED 100,000 each in Dear Big Ticket Season 4, and plans to use the prize for her ongoing cancer treatment and medication.

Arlene Jimenez, a 44-year-old homemaker from the Philippines, is one of six people who will each receive AED 100,000 in the fourth season of Big Ticket's Dear Big Ticket campaign, according to The Global Filipino Magazine and The Filipino Times. The winners were picked through public voting, and The Filipino Times reported that they are from India, Iran, Kenya, Nigeria and the Philippines.

A wish to see her children grow up

Jimenez has lived in the UAE since 2006. She has been fighting cancer since 2016 and stepped away from work to focus on her treatment and health. Her children are 17 and 13, and her wish has been to see them grow up and be there for them as they reach important milestones.

“As long as I’m alive, I still have hope. All I want is to continue fighting and be there to see my children grow up,” she said.

When she was invited to the Big Ticket office, she assumed it was for verification of her details and had no idea she had won, both outlets reported. She plans to put the prize towards her ongoing cancer treatment and medication, easing the financial burden on her family.

“This is such a big help for me and my family. It means I can continue my medication and keep fighting. I am so thankful to everyone who supported my story and to Big Ticket for giving me this opportunity,” she added.

About the campaign

This season took wishes in health and wellbeing, education, housing and accommodation, business and entrepreneurship, and family reunion. Another winner, Rosielyn Cardona, a 45-year-old saleswoman who has lived in Abu Dhabi for the past 18 years, will use her prize to help settle her son's hospital bills as he is treated for a brain tumour.
