Filipino-influenced bakery and pizzeria Bunso opens in Kentish Town from the group that runs Mamasons
Restaurateur Omar Shah's Maginhawa Group, which also runs Mamasons, Guanabana and Belly, set Bunso's evening pizzeria to open on 13 October at 1A Hawley Road in Kentish Town, with its daytime bakery following on 20 October. The menus pair Filipino flavours with Italian and American influences.
Bunso, a new bakery and pizzeria from restaurateur Omar Shah, was set to open on Hawley Road in Kentish Town, north London, on Tuesday 13 October, The Upcoming reported. The Upcoming said it will run as a bakery by day and a pizzeria and listening bar in the evening, with Filipino flavours and ingredients alongside Italian and American influences. Shah's Maginhawa Group also runs Mamasons, Guanabana and Belly.
The name means "youngest child" in Filipino. According to The Upcoming, it refers less to Bunso being the group's newest opening than to the curious, rule-breaking temperament associated with youngest siblings. Hot Dinners included Bunso in its guide to the big new London restaurants opening in October 2026, according to Bunso's website.

The space
Shah led the design with Studio Jayga Architects and the group's in-house architect, The Upcoming reported. The single-storey Art Deco-style building has a large shopfront window that gives a view from the street through to the open kitchen, where staff laminate pastries and bake pandesal during the day. A hi-fi system with a turntable forms a feature wall.
