Filipino performers bring music to distressed OFWs at Doha shelter for Cuecastt's second anniversary

By Kislap Editorial ·

Filipino performing groups entertained distressed Overseas Filipino Workers at the Migrant Workers Resource Center in Doha as Cuecastt marked its second anniversary with '2Gether at the Shelter', Qatar Tribune reported.

Filipino performers brought music and comfort to distressed Overseas Filipino Workers at the Migrant Workers Resource Center (MWRC) in Doha, Qatar Tribune reported on 18 October. The performances were part of Cuecastt's second-anniversary celebration, "2Gether at the Shelter", held on 25 September.

An earlier Qatar Tribune report, published on 4 October, said Cuecastt chose to share its milestone with the shelter wards instead of celebrating on its own. Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Mardomel Celo Melicor attended the event.

A programme of Filipino talent

Tanghalang Overseas Pinoy (TOPi) opened the programme with a Zumba session, followed by a duet by Mariefe Ros Garcia and Raul Martin and a solo performance by Chester Mendoza. Maharlikans Vocal Ensemble Philippines (MVEP) Qatar performed choral harmonies, while TRIARC Talents showcased Jasper Jay Eva on the accordion and Gabrielle Grace Eva on the violin.

Base One talents, together with Coach Kyle, delivered a singing and dancing performance, and Elaiyah Jediael Aguilar's piano performance encouraged audience members to join in. The shelter wards also stepped into the spotlight with a surprise performance of their own.

Gifts, games and a dance floor

The celebration continued with games, prizes, giveaways, food and special treats for the shelter wards, with Cuecastt's partners and supporters contributing gifts, raffle items and supplies. The organisation thanked the Migrant Workers Office in Qatar for welcoming and supporting the initiative, and acknowledged Labor Attaché II Atty. Eduard Ferrer for helping facilitate the celebration.

DJ Kyle of Base One capped off the event, turning the shelter into a dance floor for wards, guests and volunteers. Qatar Tribune said the anniversary reflected Cuecastt's commitment to going beyond podcasts and social media by using its platform to support community initiatives and showcase Filipino talent.
