Guam-based Filipino nurse Job Marconi Mascardo wins 2026 AAMN/DAISY Health Equity Award
Job Marconi Mascardo of Guam Memorial Hospital Authority is the 2026 individual recipient of the American Association for Men in Nursing and DAISY Foundation Health Equity Award, which AAMN gives to a nurse who goes above and beyond to address health equity.
Filipino nurse Job Marconi Mascardo of Guam Memorial Hospital Authority is the 2026 recipient of the AAMN/DAISY Foundation Health Equity Award, an honour given by the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN) with the DAISY Foundation. The Global Filipino Magazine reported the recognition on November 2, and AAMN's official honours board lists Mascardo, of Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, under the 2026 award.
According to The Global Filipino Magazine, the award was presented on October 15, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. AAMN says the individual award recognises a nurse who goes "over and beyond to address health equity" and works to mitigate one or more of the social determinants of health. Recipients receive a Healer's Touch sculpture and a personalised DAISY Award certificate.
Work behind the award
The magazine says the recognition follows three years as a Telephonic Care Manager Nurse at Humana, where Mascardo supported nearly 3,000 members enrolled in Dual Eligible and Chronic Special Needs Plans across several US states. Through daily patient outreach, he helped identify barriers to care, close gaps in patients' understanding of their medical needs and coordinate services, using motivational interviewing to help patients take a more active role in their health.
He now serves as a Hospital Nurse Quality Improvement Specialist at Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, focusing on patient safety, healthcare processes and clinical outcomes. One of his priorities is the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program, which centres on discharge planning and continuity of care so that patients can recover safely at home.
A second honour in October
The Global Filipino Magazine says Mascardo was also one of nine Filipino nurses who received the Nursing Leadership Award at The Outstanding Filipino Awards (TOFA), held on October 24 at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts in Florida.
A 14-year career
Mascardo's 14-year career spans bedside care, clinical case management and quality improvement, the magazine says. He provided frontline care in Montana during the COVID-19 pandemic and worked on post-discharge medication reconciliation in Texas. He earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Nursing while working full time, and he holds national certifications in nursing leadership, case management and healthcare quality. The magazine has previously featured his path from unpaid volunteer work with the Red Cross Cebu Chapter to a healthcare career in the United States.
