Hapunan temporarily closes Auckland CBD shop to focus on Huapai and its food truck
Filipino food business Hapunan has temporarily closed its CBD store at 2 Anzac Avenue to focus on its food truck for summer markets and events. Its Huapai store at 316 Main Rd stays open, and the business says it is not goodbye to Hapunan in the city forever.
Hapunan has temporarily closed its Auckland CBD store at 2 Anzac Avenue. In a post on its Facebook Page, the Filipino food business said the team would take a step back, regroup and focus on getting its engine room back up and running as food truck season kicks into full swing.
With summer markets, wedding celebrations, Christmas parties and plenty of events on the horizon, the post said it was time to put its energy back into the wheels that started it all. Hapunan thanked city customers, from the familiar faces who popped in for their Filipino food fix to those who discovered it for the first time, for welcoming it into their lunch breaks and making the CBD space part of their routine.
The post said this year had probably been one of the business's toughest yet, and that sometimes you have to take a step back to reset, refocus and make room for what's next.
So, for now, it's truly goodbye to our little city space. But certainly not goodbye to Hapunan in the city forever
Huapai and the food truck carry on
Hapunan said customers would still find it at its home in Huapai, and popping up at more locations as the food truck travels around Auckland to summer markets and events. The Hapunan website lists the Huapai store at 316 Main Rd, open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch from 12pm to 3pm and dinner from 4pm to 8pm.
According to the website, Aldrin and Laura used their saved wedding fund in 2017 to buy and fit out a food truck selling Filipino-inspired dishes around Auckland, after a trip to the Philippines to meet Aldrin's family.
Hapunan said it already has a busy food truck week ahead and that its upcoming event schedule will be released soon. The post closed with "Maraming salamat, Auckland".
On Kislap, the Hapunan CBD listing now shows the 2 Anzac Avenue shop as temporarily closed, while the Hapunan listing for the Huapai store at 316 Main Rd remains active.
