Philippine Board of Investments courts Malaysian investors at Spark 2026 and Philippine Business Forum in Kuala Lumpur

By Kislap Editorial ·

The Philippine Board of Investments promoted the Philippines to Malaysian firms at the Spark 2026 expo at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and at a Philippine Business Forum, pitching semiconductors, high-value manufacturing and renewable energy.

The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) promoted business opportunities in the Philippines to Malaysian and international firms at the 6th Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (Spark 2026), held 14 to 17 October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, The Manila Times reported on 27 October.

The BOI joined other Philippine government investment promotion agencies at the Philippine Pavilion, presenting priority industries, investment incentives, policy reforms and potential investment locations outside economic zones. Tengku Amir Shah, the Raja Muda of Selangor, visited the pavilion.

Philippine Business Forum

On 15 October, the BOI also took part in the Philippine Business Forum at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur, organised by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Kuala Lumpur (PTIC-Kuala Lumpur) for Malaysian business leaders and prospective investors.

"The Philippines offers opportunities across advanced manufacturing, particularly semiconductors and electrical and electronic products, other high-value manufacturing activities, renewable energy, and the industries that support them."

Trade Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Ceferino Rodolfo invited Malaysian companies to consider setting up new facilities, expanding existing operations and developing production and distribution partnerships with Philippine enterprises. BOI's Jean Traballo highlighted renewable energy projects, including solar, battery energy storage, geothermal and wind, as possible avenues for Malaysian investment, joint ventures and technology partnerships.

A panel with representatives of PTIC-Kuala Lumpur, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) looked at investment destinations and economic zones. The BOI said it would follow up on investor interest and pursue opportunities to strengthen economic ties between the Philippines and Malaysia.
