The Philippine Business Council Dubai and Northern Emirates (PBC-DNE) has launched its Women's Business Network to help Filipino women advance their careers, explore entrepreneurship and take on leadership roles in the UAE, The Filipino Times reported.
The network was launched during the Women's Business Network Sundowner at MiMi Mei Fair in Downtown Dubai on 29 October, which also supported breast cancer awareness. The council's event page listed the gathering from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with tickets at AED 100 for PBC members and AED 120 for guests and non-members.
What the network is for
Asiyah Monjardin, chairwoman of PBC-DNE, said the initiative aims to address barriers women face when transitioning from employment to business ownership, particularly in navigating business registration, securing funding and building a client base.
“The talent and the entrepreneurial instinct already exist in our community,” Monjardin said. “Many of our women are skilled professionals in nursing, finance, hospitality, design and administration. They have ideas, but no roadmap for trade licences, free zones, banking or finding their first clients in the UAE.”
According to The Filipino Times, members can learn from established business owners, connect with potential investors and develop professional referrals through the network. The initiative also seeks to increase the visibility of Filipino women in business and encourage them to pursue leadership opportunities.
The network will also help women planning to return to the Philippines explore government programmes and resources that could support their plans to establish businesses back home.
Who can join
As a council subcommittee, the network is open to PBC-DNE members, including professionals who do not own businesses. PBC-DNE plans to organise workshops, forums and other activities in the coming months.
