Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi clears 1,217 more Filipinos as overseas voters for 2028
The embassy's election registration board approved 1,217 more overseas voter applications from Filipinos in Abu Dhabi at its 19 October hearing, and registration for the 2028 elections stays open until 30 September 2027.
The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi has approved another 1,217 overseas voter applications from Filipinos living in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, The Global Filipino Magazine reported on 26 October.
The approvals came out of the third hearing of the embassy's Resident Election Registration Board (RERB), held on 19 October. Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kevin Mark R. Gomez, who chairs the board, presided over the review of applications filed between July 1 and September 30, 2026.
The magazine said the Abu Dhabi post was cited as one of the top-performing Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the Middle East and Africa for overseas voter registration in two straight quarters, from December 2025 to June 2026.
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso A. Ver said the embassy remains committed to giving every eligible Filipino overseas voter in the UAE the chance to vote:
"Amid the prevailing situation in the Middle East, the Embassy remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that every eligible Filipino overseas voter in the UAE is given the opportunity to exercise their right to vote."
Registration closes on 30 September 2027
Registration for the 2028 Philippine national elections remains open until September 30, 2027, but the embassy is urging Filipinos in Abu Dhabi who have not yet signed up not to leave it to the final weeks. In an online interview with Radyo Pilipinas World Service on 23 October, Ver said early registration gives applicants more time to address potential issues with their applications and avoid the rush as the deadline approaches.
Applicants can check whether their names were approved on the official list that has been posted. The embassy said it will keep its consular services accessible and efficient and push wide-scale information drives, and it has encouraged prospective voters to monitor its official website and social media accounts for announcements on registration procedures, schedules and documentary requirements.
