Photographs taken by Philippine Embassy officials in Japan, including Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, were selected for the 29th Japan through Diplomats' Eyes photo exhibition at the Roppongi Hills Café/Space in Tokyo, which ran from 8 to 12 October, the embassy said on 27 October.
Photographs taken by officials of the Philippine Embassy in Japan, including Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, were selected for display at the "Journeys Across Japan through Diplomats' Eyes 2026" photo exhibition, the embassy said in a release dated 27 October. The exhibition opened on 8 October at the Roppongi Hills Café/Space in Tokyo and ran until 12 October.
The embassy named officials Claudine Joanne D. Dizon, Hazel B. Peña, Ma. Alyssa Jo A. Bacongco and Mark Michael Vincent L. Marbella, along with Kim Czar A. Bacongco, a family member of an embassy official, as appearing with their selected entries.
Opening with Princess Takamado
The opening ceremony was attended by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, patron and honorary president of Japan through Diplomats' Eyes. According to the embassy, she said the exhibition is a project close to the heart of her late husband, Prince Takamado, who was an avid photographer, and that it gives foreign diplomats and their families a platform to share their perspectives of the host country.
The organisers' website lists the opening reception and award ceremony on 8 October from 11 a.m. at Hills Café, Roppongi Hills, where the Prince Takamado Memorial Prize, Grand Prize and Ambassador Prize were to be introduced. Africasiainfos reported that the ceremony presented those awards and that the exhibition was open to the public.
The Philippines on the committee
This year's organising committee is led by Princess Takamado as honorary president, Senator Hirofumi Nakasone as head of the jury and Moroccan Ambassador Mohammed Rachad Bouhlal as chairperson of the executive committee. Committee members include the ambassadors of Venezuela, the Philippines and Luxembourg, alongside Ambassador Keiichi Hara, Chief of Protocol of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The embassy said the exhibition is in its 29th year and that its officials have long taken part, with a Philippine entry having received the Prince Takamado Memorial Prize.
