Philippine Embassy to schedule another Christchurch mobile consular mission in January 2027

By Kislap Editorial ·

The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand concluded a three-day mobile consular mission in Christchurch on 11 October and says it will schedule another one there in January 2027, citing high demand from Filipinos in Canterbury.

The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand will schedule another mobile consular mission to Christchurch in January 2027, after concluding a three-day mission in the city on 11 October.

The October mission was held from 9 to 11 October at the Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square. Over the three days, the embassy said it provided Filipino clients with passport renewal, civil registration, notarial services and the administration of oaths for dual citizenship.

According to the embassy, Christchurch and the greater Canterbury region in the South Island is home to the second largest community of Filipinos in New Zealand. It said another mission will be scheduled due to the high demand for consular services from Filipinos based in the area.

What the October mission offered

The embassy's advisory for the October mission listed these services, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:

  • Passport services, by appointment only through the DFA Global Online Appointment System
  • Civil registry services (report of birth, marriage and death), by appointment only
  • Notarial services (affidavit of support, sworn statement and special power of attorney), by appointment only
  • Applications for retention and reacquisition of Philippine citizenship under R.A. 9225, by appointment only
  • Verification of employment contracts and enrolment or renewal of OWWA membership, with no appointment required

For civil registry and notarial services, application documents were received at the mission and the processed documents were to be sent back to applicants via a client-provided return courier bag. Applicants for dual citizenship whose applications were accepted and processed beforehand could take their oath during the mission.

January 2027 outreach

A separate embassy advisory posted on 7 October announced a mobile consular outreach in Christchurch in January 2027 "in response to the high demand for passport renewal services in Christchurch." That advisory does not list dates for the January outreach.
