By Kislap Editorial ·

The Philippine Historama Society of BC presented a community stage production of The Ten Commandments at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby on 24 October, bringing Filipino-Canadian performers, dancers and the Richmond 55+ers together in what organisers called a bayanihan effort.

The Philippine Historama Society of BC presented a stage production of The Ten Commandments at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby on 24 October 2026, the Philippine Canadian Inquirer and Reyfort Media reported.

The show retold the story of Moses through live drama, music, dance and visual elements. Carmelita Salonga Tapia led the production as producer, Noel Trinidad directed, Jehnel Wong led the dance choreography and Irene Yatco provided the voice-over narration. A community ensemble that included members of the Richmond 55+ers joined the cast, alongside young performers.

A community production

Reyfort Media described the staging as a true bayanihan effort that showcased Filipino talent and teamwork, and said that beyond the stage the production celebrated friendship, community spirit and the importance of preserving cultural heritage while inspiring younger generations.

The Philippine Canadian Inquirer, which served as a media sponsor and community partner, said the staging highlighted how Filipino community organisations in Canada help preserve cultural identity and create opportunities for artistic expression among immigrants and succeeding generations.

Organisers thanked sponsors including UMAC, Plato Filipino, Ria and All Year Tax and Business Services, with Reyfort Media Group and PCI News as media partners, according to Reyfort Media.
