SB19 concert film screening in Riyadh brings Filipino fans and community leaders together

By Kislap Editorial ·

A premiere-night screening of SB19's "Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Concert Finale" in Riyadh, organised with Qanawat Group and the Philippine Embassy, drew Filipino fans, students, creators and community leaders.

Filipino fans and community members gathered in Riyadh for the premiere-night screening of SB19's "Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Concert Finale", ABS-CBN Entertainment reported. The screening was held in collaboration with movie distributor Qanawat Group and the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.

Attendees included Filipino influencers, vloggers, students, school representatives, film and entertainment personalities, and community leaders from Riyadh and other parts of Saudi Arabia.

On the big screen

The concert film was captured before a record-breaking crowd of nearly 100,000 fans and was presented in SCREENX and 4DX, according to the Saudi Showtimes listing. The listing shows the film played in Riyadh, Jeddah, Tabuk, Dammam and five more locations before its cinema run ended.

Closer to home

Bart Penaranda, a certified A'TIN based in Saudi Arabia, said it was his first time watching the group in a concert cinema setting.

"Alam mo, I was mesmerized almost the whole time because they are really high-level performers. And it was my first time watching them perform in a cinema concert," Penaranda said.

Filipino influencer Janelle Vales of Pink Tarha drew a parallel between SB19's journey and that of OFWs pursuing their ambitions abroad.

"As a Filipino living abroad, SB19 makes me feel a little closer to home and a whole lot prouder to be Pinoy," Vales said.

Vlogger Pau Alarcon said the message of the night was that music and talent can cross borders regardless of nationality. ABS-CBN said the screening also provided an opportunity to introduce Filipino artistry to audiences beyond the Filipino community.
