Business.govt.nz explains that consumer laws cover established businesses, internet traders and temporary operations. The Consumer Guarantees Act concerns products and services for personal or domestic use, while the Fair Trading Act covers how traders represent what they sell.
Check your descriptions and delivery promises against the official requirements. Products must match their descriptions; advertising must not mislead. Investigate a customer's complaint and use the applicable remedy rules rather than assuming a shop policy overrides them.
